Supported living service in Ashford
A space is available in a house in Ashford which is just right for people with learning disabilities or autism. Perhaps it could be you, or someone you know?
The two men who already live here are in their thirties, so someone about this age would be an ideal new housemate. They’re really looking forward to having someone new move in.
I love to listen to music on the radio, and watching football on the TV. I’m looking forward to meeting you.
I love to go on a long walk every day, and I love going to the beach for an ice cream.
Both the people who live here love their volunteering work at a local animal centre, food banks and charity shops. The town centre isn’t far away, so they would love the new person to join us on trips out on buses and trains, to restaurants, the beach, the zoo and to the steam railway. They love to boogie at a monthly local disco and have a good sing at the local church on Sundays.
The house
The house is like any other in this residential estate in Ashford – there’s a large green out the front and a garden that they like to make use of in the summer. There’s also a garage.
The house has three bedrooms, one of which is currently available. When a new housemate is found, we’ll redecorate it to suit their style. There is also an additional bedroom for staff who stay overnight.
- On the ground floor there’s a kitchen, games room and toilet
- On the first floor, there’s a bedroom, shower room and a lounge for everyone to use
- On the top floor, there’s an en-suite double room, a single-room and the staff room
Because of there is no lift, this wouldn’t be the right house for someone who finds stairs tricky.
Support team
We have a brilliant support team working here who are experienced in supporting people with learning and physical disabilities. It’s taken for granted that people who live here get to have choice and freedom, and we use Makaton and communication boards to help everyone understand.
The team currently provide 1-to-1 support during the day, and 2-1 sleep-in support overnight. When a new housemate is found, we will work on a new support plan that works for everyone.
