Our Life Stories would not be possible without the support of our partner, the British Library, and our funder, the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
About the National Lottery Heritage Fund
The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest funder for the UK’s heritage.
Using money raised by National Lottery players, they distribute grants to support projects that connect people and communities to their heritage.
Heritage can be anything from the past that you value and want to pass on to future generations. Understanding, valuing and sharing our heritage brings people together, inspires pride in place and supports local economies.
Since being established in 1994, they have awarded £9.2 billion of National Lottery and other funding to more than 52,000 projects across the UK.
The British Library is the national library of the UK. Our shelves hold over 170 million items – a living collection that gets bigger every day.
With roots extending back centuries, they collect everything published today, tomorrow and decades into the future. They have millions of books, but also newspapers, maps, sound recordings, patents and stamps.
Their spaces are open for study, a place to meet friends, to start up a new business or to get inspired.
