Several members of the royal family have been poorly lately.

On the 6th of February 2024, King Charles told everybody he has cancer. Cancer is a very serious illness that can kill people.

Doctors found the cancer while treating King Charles for an enlarged prostate. His cancer is not in the prostate, but he is not telling people where it is.

King Charles has been taking medicine for his cancer from the 5th of February. King Charles said he is 'wholly positive about his treatment'.

While King Charles is being treated for cancer, he will not be going to events and meeting lots of people. Treatment for cancer makes people very tired.

King Charles will still be doing his some of the other things he normally does as King. His weekly meetings with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will still happen.

King Charles is planning to visit Australia in Autumn this year. He may cancel his plan if his treatment makes him too tired.

Princess Catherine, also known as Kate Middleton, has also had medical treatment recently. Kate is the wife of William, the Prince of Wales, who is King Charles' son.

In January 2024, Kate had surgery on her stomach area. She has not told anyone what this surgery was.

Kate’s surgery went well. However, she needs to rest for a long time for a full recovery. She stayed in hospital for weeks to recover.

Her doctors think she will be well enough to go back to doing what she normally does in April.

A third Royal - Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York - has also been in hospital recently with skin cancer. Sarah Ferguson used to be married to Prince Andrew, King Charles' younger brother.

In January, Sarah Ferguson had several skin moles removed. The moles were tested and found to be a malignant melanoma, a type of skin cancer.

Sarah Ferguson's doctors say that the moles were removed in time and the skin cancer has not spread anywhere else. New or growing moles should be seen by a doctor.
