Easy News: Social Care Review

   The government has said they want to make changes to Adult Social Care to make it better.

   Some people need help to do things every day. They need care workers to help them do things every day.

3. 

   Some people are born with disabilities and need help through their life. Some people stop being able to do things as they get older and start to need help.

   Sometimes the country government pays for the care, and sometimes the local government does. Sometimes people have to pay for it themselves. Some people need it, but cannot afford to pay for it.

   Some people can be cared for while they live in their house. Other people who need more help need to move to assisted living, or even be sent to hospital.

   In the future, there will be more older people than there are now. There is a lack of people to work in care for those who need it. This will make it harder for everyone to get the care they need.

   The government has started a report on how Adult Social Care can be made better. The report will be led by a Baroness from the House of Lords. Baroness Louise Casey isn't a member of any political party. All political parties will help write the report.

   The government hopes the report will tell them what big changes should be made to Adult Social Care. They hope all political parties will agree with the changes.

9. 

   The report will take a long time. In 2026 there will be a talk about how the report is going. The government thinks the report will be finished in 2028.

    Some people say that Social Care needs to be changed right now. There have been three reports on Social Care done since 1995. People say the government should take the suggestions made by those.

    They think the government is worried making big changes to Adult Social Care will make people not like them. They think the report is a way to not do that until after the next election.

    The government will change some things right now. These are not big changes, but the government thinks these changes will make social care better.

    People can ask the government to pay for builders to change their house for their needs. This is called the Disabled Facilities Grant.

    The government will put more money into the Disabled Facilities Grant. This will let more people live in their homes instead of going to hospital.

15. 

    Carers will be taught how to do simple health-care procedures. They will learn how to do things like check someone's blood pressure. This will also help people stay out of hospital.
