    1. In October and November there were 2 bad storms in Britain.

    2. Storms cause a lot of rain which can flood towns. They also cause strong winds which can damage buildings and trees.

    3. On 19th October, Storm Babet passed through the UK. Storm Babet was the worst in Scotland and the north of England.

    4. Some places were flooded and 7 people died because of the storm.

    5. On 2nd November, Storm Ciarán passed through the UK. Storm Ciarán was worst in the south of England and the Channel Islands, which include Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney.

    6. It rained very hard because of Storm Ciarán. There were 200 flood alerts all over England. A flood alert is when people are warned that there could be a flood.

    7. It was also very windy because of Storm Ciarán. The winds caused a lot of damage to buildings. People found it hard to travel because trains and cars would get blown over.

    8. Some people lost electricity in their houses because electrical wires were blown down. The electricity companies worked very hard to fix all the damage quickly.

    9. In Jersey, dozens of people were asked to leave their homes and stay at hotels where they would be safe from Storm Ciarán.

    10. Storm Ciarán caused a tornado in Jersey. A tornado is a strong wind blowing round in a circle. It was the most powerful tornado in Britain for almost 70 years.

    11. Storm Ciarán then moved into Europe where it kept causing damage. At least 16 people died because of the storm.
