George was supported by us to find work at his local farm. His role involves lots of different jobs including animal care and horticulture (looking after plants).
George started work experience on the farm in September 2018 as part of his studies.
He was involved in lots of different tasks, from animal care to horticultural work, which means looking after plants and the land. George achieved a strimming qualification so he could strim the grass independently.
One of his colleagues said:
George has a very natural ability with animals – he’s very good with the feeding and husbandry of the young calves.
George’s work placement taught him lots of employability skills in different areas. His attention to detail really improved while he was at work, and staff saw how his confidence and skillset grew immensely, as he was learning on the job.
Staff were so impressed with George’s attitude that he was offered paid work at the farm.
