This roomy property is in a lovely residential area with plenty to do within walking distance, but it’s also set back from the road so is private and quiet.

The 3 people who currently live here are men between the ages of 45 and 55. We are looking for another man to join the household. If you or someone you know might be a match for this opportunity, please get in touch.

The house

This is a large house that can provide accommodation for four people, as well as sleeping accommodation for overnight staff. Learning disability charity Dimensions are the landlord of the property.

The room that is currently available is a first-floor bedroom with a generous en-suite wetroom. The stairs are a bit on the narrow side and there’s no lift, so it might not be the right opportunity for someone with limited mobility.

It’s a really friendly house and the people who live here tend to spend time together in the communal areas, rather than staying tucked away in their own rooms. Downstairs there is a kitchen with a large dining room, a smaller ‘quiet room’ and a large living room.

There is also a separate utility room so that housemates can do their laundry without disturbing people cooking or enjoying meals in the kitchen. There is a good-sized garden at the back, with a pond.

The support

United Response is a national charity that supports around 2000 people across the country, and we provide all the support at this property.

The residents and support staff have all lived and worked here for a long time, so there’s a lovely family feel. We pride ourselves on delivering person-centred support, which means that we work hard to understand each person’s changing ambitions and needs, and then develop a plan to make it happen.

The 3 people who currently live here share core hours, and there is always one sleep-in and one waking-night colleague on duty. We’ll work with the new person, their friends and family, and their funders to develop a package of care that will really work for them.

Out and about

In a recent development, we have a brand new car for the service. Use of the car is shared between the people that live here, which makes it far easier for people to get to college or other activities.

Wantage town is just 5 minutes away, so we make good use of restaurants, cafes or get the bus further afield. We also make the most of a nearby social group once a month.

It’s really important to United Response to protect the privacy, safety and rights of everyone who lives at this location. That’s why we haven’t included every detail and there might be less photos than you’d expect. Please get in touch and we’ll be able to answer any questions, as well as support you and your social worker to assess its suitability.
